<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Despite its rarity, vulvar cancer retains a high potential for reducing the quality of life of patients and poses serious challenges for doctors.</p><p>One of the central tasks of modern oncology is to improve efficiency of methods of early detection and monitoring of vulvar cancer. The most important instrument in solving this problem is diagnostic cytology based on the analysis of cellular material obtained directly from the area of the suspected lesion. The cytologic method is the most important diagnostic tool due to its high sensitivity and specificity, allowing to confidently recognize early signs of the transformation of normal epithelium into cancerous tissue.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>рак вульвы</kwd><kwd>цитологическое исследование</kwd><kwd>вульварная интраэпителиальная неоплазия (VIN)</kwd><kwd>дифференцированная вульварная интраэпителиальная неоплазия (dVIN )</kwd><kwd>высокодифференцированное плоскоклеточное интраэпителиальное поражение (HSIL)</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>vulvar cancer</kwd><kwd>diagnostic cytology</kwd><kwd>vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN )</kwd><kwd>differentiated vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (dVIN)</kwd><kwd>high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL)</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Moberg L., Sundqvist A., Holmberg E. et al.
